Keywords:
Cruveilhier-Baumgarten syndrome, diagnosis, ultrasonographyAbstract
The Cruveilhier-Baumgarten syndrome term is used for cases of portal hypertension due to any cause in which a high venous murmur can be heard over the upper abdomen. The Cruveilhier Baumgarten disease is reserved for cases with congenital umbilical vein patency associated with congenital hypoplasia of the liver and portal system, besides a venous murmur heard about the umbilical vein. The portal circulation commonly decompresses through collateral ligament round. This structure usually becomes echogenic anechoic centrally, producing an appearance of “bull’s eye” in the transverse plane of the ultrasound.
