Abstract

Gastroschisis represents a congenital defect characterized by a defect in the anterior abdominal wall through which the abdominal contents freely protrude, specially the intestine. The abdominal wall defect is located at the junction of the umbilicus and normal skin, and is almost always to the right of the umbilicus. She is one of the most common neonatal surgical diagnoses, and a neonatal emergency, a large number of postoperative complications, but with a good prognosis, especially in recent years due to improved surgical techniques, neonatal total parenteral nutrition and neonatal intensive care. With the scientific improvement of prenatal diagnosis it is possible to improve even more attention to mother and fetus, preparing and supporting the family, birth planning adequately with an obstetric, neonatal and surgical staff ready to operate, categorizing risks and thus enable the development of protocols for action. With this in mind, the objective of this study was to report a case of gastroschisis identified in prenatal ultrasonography and its outcome.
