Abstract

The applicability of Dopplervelocimetry has already been well established in all medical specialties. This method is used, among others applications, to evaluate fetal vitality, fetal anemia, arterial stenosis and venous insufficiency. In order to avoid wrong results in dopplervelocimetry parameters, it is necessary to use correct methodology. In this context, the present review emphasizes the main tools used in dopplervelocimetry evaluations: insonation angle, pulse repetition frequency, sample volume and wall filter. Besides, this article reviews the main Doppler parameters used during Doppler exams: peak systolic velocity, end-diastolic velocity, resistance index, pulsatility index and acceleration time.
