OBJECTIVE: Body composition, obesity, physical activity and aesthetic issues are very common nowadays directly on the health and lives of people. In this sense the objective was to compare methods of assessment of skin folds and ultrasound in body fat using strength training for a possible change in body composition. METHODS: We selected 30 women between 23 and 35 years, practitioners of strength training from 6 months to 3 months, chosen intentionally. Was performed 1RM test for the training loads, prescribed exercises for 3 sets of 10 repetitions? This group was evaluated before and after 8 weeks of strength training method in skin fold sacroiliac and thigh previously by Lange skin fold calipers and ultrasound in the abdominal wall and posterior thigh through the device Medison Sonoau (peak) linear translator with a 7.5 MHz was applied to the sample correlation coefficient r for variable-ultrasound of the abdominal wall by checking the relationship between evaluation of ultrasound x skin fold body fat, whereas the two moments, pre and post -strength training, the level of significance obtained in this analysis was P <0.05. RESULTS: The results obtained by the correlation of Person to variable ultrasound of the abdominal wall x skinfold above the iliac and ultrasonography of the posterior thigh skinfold x anterior thigh before and after training, which were strongly correlated (P <0.05). CONCLUSION: After evaluation of ultrasound and skinfold pre-and post-strength training can be said that a method explains the other with a high correlation between them.
