Abstract

OBJECTIVES: Placenta accreta is the abnormal implantation of the placenta in the uterine wall. It is an important morbidity among pregnant women, with increasing incidence in recent years. It is often associated with cases of concomitant placenta previa and a history of previous cesarean sections. The aim of this paper is to report a case of placental accretion with favorable outcome. Prenatal diagnosis is of fundamental importance for this outcome, being performed mainly by means of imaging. The main risks involve high intrapartum blood loss, with frequent need for blood transfusion.
