Abstract

Takayasu’s arteritis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the arteries of unknown etiology. The pathophysiology is characterized by initial inflammation and subsequent occlusion of the arteries, causing claudication until ischemia of the affected organs, due to lack of perfusion. This is a serious illness. With early treatment, the survival of 10 to 15 years occurs in 80 to 90% of cases.
