Persistent median artery thrombosis with bifid median nerve - ultrasonography diagnosis
case report
Keywords:
thrombosis, median nerve, ultrasonographyAbstract
OBJECTIVES: The carpal tunnel is a canal limited by the arch of the carpal bones and anteriorly by the transverse carpus ligament. The medial artery arises from the ulnar artery or from the anterior interosseous of the forearm, regressing after the eighth week of gestation, becoming a remaining vessel after the development of the radial and ulnar arteries. The persistence of the medial artery may be associated with anatomical variations of the median nerve and may be one of the causes of carpal tunnel syndrome.
