Abstract

OBJECTIVES: To demonstrate the incidence of rotator cuff lesions (RCL) diagnosed by ultrasonography in 2017 at a reference clinic in GoiâniaGoiás. METHODS: A cross-sectional retrospective study in which 1330 US shoulder exams performed from January to December 2017 in patients of both sexes. RESULTS: RCLs were present in 212 exams. Of these, 67.9% were women and 32.1% were men. The mean age of the patients was 52.30 years. 204 lesions affected the supraspinatus, 18 the infraspinatus and 11 subscapularis muscles. No injuries were reported in the teres minor. CONCLUSION: ultrasonography is a reliable method for diagnosis of MRLs. There was a high prevalence of this type of lesion on ultrasonography (16.2%), mostly in women. The structure most affected was the supraspinatus.
