Abstract

Fetal growth restriction is an obstetric intercurrence with high rates of perinatal morbidity and mortality, constituting a risk factor for disturbances in fetal development. The serial measurement of fetal biometry by ultrasound is a method used for the diagnosis of FGR. However, the hemodynamic changes in the fetus with restricted growth are set earlier than the changes in fetal biometry. Thus, at present, the Doppler of maternal uterine arteries, umbilical artery, fetal middle cerebral artery and ratio of pulsatility index of the fetal middle cerebral artery and umbilical artery should be added to fetal biometry. We peformed a review about the current ecographic criteria of the fetal growth restriccion.
