Patellar sleeve fracture in pre-adolescent
a case report
Keywords:
sleeve fracture, patella, ultrasonographyAbstract
Patella fractures are rare in children. Sleeve-type fractures are not caused by direct trauma, but by a rapid contraction of the quadriceps in a flexed knee. The simple x-rays are not able to demonstrate a sleeve fracture. Thus, an ultrasound examination is an excellent complementary examination to the patient with this type of fracture, allowing a display of the tissue and the cartilaginous, and being accessible, fast and painless. This article reports a case of pre-adolescent man fracture, in which ultrasound was applied as a complementary diagnosis method.
