Echographic study of the normal and pathological fetal renal system
Keywords:
fetal anomaly, fetal malformation, fetal renal system, fetal urinary malformation, ultrasonographyAbstract
The incidence of congenital abnormalities at birth is 2% to 3% for the general population and is associated with 20% to 25% of perinatal mortality. It should be emphasized that anomalies of the fetal renal system account for approximately 40% of the cases of renal insufficiency in childhood. Anomalies of the urogenital tract can be detected early by ultrasonography. Thus, the objective of the present study was to present an updated review of ultrasonography of the normal and pathological fetal renal system.
