Abstract

Xantogranulomatous orchitis is a rare disease, non-neoplastic and it is characterized by destruction of tissue which is replaced by a striking cellular infiltraté and an absence of caseous necrosis. It is usually diagnosed between the 6th and 7th decade of life, and it is presented as a testicular pain of varying intensity, swelling and occasional fever. The aim of this paper was to report a case of Xantogranulomatous idiopathic orchitis in a teenage patient and ultrasound applications. At the scrotal ultrasound examination a hipoecoic image in the lower pole of testis hypoperfused at Doppler examination. The biopsy was performed and the hystopatologic exam attested xanthogranulomatous orchitis considering that the hystopathologic exam showed a diffuse infiltratéd of xantomized cells with focal microcalcifications and some seminiferous tubules interposed. The conservation treatment was indicatéd and the patient has been followed semiannual with no complications.
